I haven’t done any speed work since last summer. I was both excited and nervous about today’s workout. Last night, I was excited to get the chance to finally crank out some short fast runs. This morning, I had a sickening feeling in my stomach as I arrived at the gym. I knew this would be tough.
I hit the treadmill and set it for speed intervals with a 5:42 minute per mile pace for 400 m, then a 400 m walk at 16:00 minute mile pace. I’d complete 5 of these intervals. It was tough, but I did it and that makes next week’s speed intervals that much easier.
