Training is over

I ran my last 2 miles of training for the Disney half marathon this morning.  So, after 998.6 miles (since July 1, 2008) all that’s left to do is run this race.  My two miles were pretty easy.   I mosied along at an 8:30 pace and threw in a few strides.  My average pace was 8:13 per mile.  My legs feel strong and light for the first time in about 6 months.  The time I spent at planned race pace today was quite comfortable.  I have to say that I’m ready.

I’d like to say good luck to Lindsay, who will be running the half marathon with me and then running the full marathon the next day.  It’s called the “Goofy” challenge for obvious reasons.

I’ll be on the road early afternoon for the race expo to pick up my packet, then to check in to the Wildnerness Lodge.  The blog and my twitter account should update automatically when I cross the 5K, 10K, 15K and finish line on Saturday morning.   I’m not sure which wave I’ll be in, but I’m pretty sure my time in the 10K warrants a placement in corral A of wave 1.  I’ll know more when I pick up my packet.

Good luck to everyone else running this weekend.  I’ll post a detailed race report when I get a chance, but the Twitter account should remain fairly up to date since I can update it via text message.
