Last day in the cold

Cold Gear

Yesterday was a pretty nice day and I got in a 10.5 mile run with a few 1 mile bursts at 7:00 min/mile pace.  Toward the end I actually got a little hot, which was nice….but not really.  I mean it was nice to be warm for once since I’ve been in St. Louis, but I felt overheated.  That wasn’t so nice.

Luckily, as temperatures tend to do in St. Louis, things changed pretty dramatically again today.  It was about 22 degrees when I left for my run this morning, but I comforted myself with the knowledge that it would be my last run in the cold…at least for a while.  I snapped a photo of me in my cold gear for posterity.

It was supposed to be an easy 6 miles and it started out like that.  As I got into it, I sped up and felt pretty comfortable with it.  I figured that with 2 days in the car ahead, I’d have plenty of rest if I overdid it.  I finished the 6 in 49:05.  Not too shabby.  I’m headed back to Florida tomorrow.  We’ll overnight in Georgia, then hit Disney on Friday to meet a friend.  After the weekend, it’ll be back to work for 4 days, then back to Disney for the race.  Happy New year everyone!
