I hardly slept at all last night.  I was a ball of stress over my practice session for my dissertation defense with my advisor today.  I didn’t feel very well prepared and I woke up feeling horrible.  I knew that a good run would help my mood, so I laced up the shoes and headed out the door.

This is the first week my middle run has hit 7 miles and it certainly doesn’t seem like too long ago that my long run was 7 miles and I was struggling to finish.  I have to say that after my 13 mile run on Saturday, today’s 7 miler felt like nothing.  I even ran the last mile in 7:26, finishing in just under 1 hour.  Back on July 21, I ran 7 miles in 1 hour and 18 minutes.  I’ve come a long way.

Oh, and the practice session went really well too.

Planned workout

1 mile warmup

7 miles at 9:15 pace

1 mile cool down

Actual workout

1 mile warmup

7 miles at 8:32 pace

1 mile cool down

When is your actual defense? Good luck.

It’s on Monday. I feel a lot better about it now after the practice session. I’ll be glad when the whole thing’s over and I can finally put school behind me.
